A little over three years ago, I started screaming at my television every night as I watched events in Washington, D.C. I felt then, as I do now, that my personal freedom is being threatened by a relentless assault on everything that has made this country great. In a fit of anger and frustration, I sat down in my studio and put together a rough version of We Want Our Country Back. When I finished, I had tears streaming down my face. Over the years, my friend Jim McGee and I have written and produced many jingles together. During a casual phone conversation we learned we were both conservative in our politics. It's funny, but in over 15 years of friendship, the subject never came up. I mentioned the song and asked him to listen to it and let me know if he'd be interested in developing it further. That's how it all got started. I've spent my life writing and producing radio commercials. Jim is an incredible composer, musician and arranger. We've had other versions floating around out there, but this is the final one. When Brian Dean Moore agreed to sing the lead, it all came together. He captures the emotion that prompted me to write it. Sharon McGee, Jim's wife, is an incredible vocalist, and is also featured in the song. Jim and Sharon's son, Daniel produced the video. When you listen to the final product, it's obvious that we are all on the same page. Everyone involved in this project is fed up with the arrogance of this administration. It's time to stop screaming at our televisions and get busy. Our present so-called leaders had to use lies to grab power and control. We have The Constitution on our side, and this election could be our very last chance to keep it that way. With that in mind, pass this along to as many people as you can. Let's make "change" a good word again.

The other evening on my twitter, a person asked me why I didn't like the Obama's? Specifically I was asked: "I have to ask, why do you hate the Obama's? It seems personal, not policy related. You even dissed (disrespect) their Christmas family picture."

The truth is I do not like the Obamas, what they represent, their ideology, and I certainly do not like his policies and legislation. I've made no secret of my contempt for the Obamas. As I responded to the person who asked me the aforementioned question, I don't like them because they are committed to the fundamental change of my/our country into what can only be regarded as a Communist state.

I don't hate them per definition, but I condemn them because they are the worst kind of racialists, they are elitist Leninists with contempt for traditional America. They display disrespect for the sanctity of the office he holds, and for those who are willing to admit same, Michelle Obama's raw contempt for white America is transpicuous.
I don't like them because they comport themselves as emperor and empress.

I expect, no I demand respect, for the Office of President and a love of our country and her citizenry from the leader entrusted with the governance of same. President and Mrs. Reagan displayed an unparalleled love for the country and her people.

The Reagan's made Americans feel good about themselves and about what we could accomplish. Obama's arrogance by appointing 32 leftist czars and constantly bypassing congress is impeachable. Eric Holder is probably the MOST incompetent and arrogant DOJ head to ever hold the job. Could you envision President Reagan instructing his Justice Department to act like jack-booted thugs?

Presidents are politicians and all politicians are known and pretty much expected to manipulate the truth, if not outright lie, but even using that low standard, the Obama's have taken lies, dishonesty, deceit, mendacity, subterfuge and obfuscation to new depths. They are verbally abusive to the citizenry, and they display an animus for civility.

I do not like them, because they both display bigotry overtly, as in the case of Harvard Professor Louis Gates, when he accused the Cambridge Police of acting stupidly, and her code speak pursuant to not being able to be proud of America. I view that statement and that mindset as an insult to those who died to provide a country where a Kenyan, his illegal alien relatives, and his alleged progeny, could come and not only live freely, but rise to the highest, most powerful, position in the world.

Michelle Obama is free to hate and disparage whites because Americans of every description paid with their blood to ensure her right to do same.
I have a saying, that "the only reason a person hides things, is because they have something to hide." No president in history has spent millions of dollars to keep his records and his past sealed.

And what the two of them have shared has been proved to be lies. He lied about when and how they met, he lied about his mother's death and problems with insurance, Michelle lied to a crowd pursuant to nearly $500,000 bank stocks they inherited from his family. He has lied about his father's military service, about the civil rights movement, ad nausea. He lied to the world about the Supreme Court in a State of the Union address. He berated and publicly insulted a sitting Congressman. He has surrounded himself with the most rabidly, radical, socialist academicians today.

He opposed rulings that protected women and children that even Planned Parenthood did not seek to support. He is openly hostile to business and aggressively hostile to Israel. His wife treats being the First Lady as her personal American Express Black Card (arguably the most prestigious credit card in the world). I condemn them because, as people are suffering, losing their homes, their jobs, their retirements, he and his family are arrogantly showing off their life of entitlement - as he goes about creating and fomenting class warfare.

I don't like them, and I neither apologize nor retreat from my public condemnation of them and of his policies. We should condemn them for the disrespect they show our people, for his willful and unconstitutional actions pursuant to obeying the Constitutional parameters he is bound by, and his willful disregard for Congressional authority.

Dislike for them has nothing to do with the color of their skin; it has everything to do with their behavior, attitudes, and policies. And I have open scorn for their constantly playing the race card.

It is my intention to do all within my ability to ensure their reign is one term. I could go on, but let me conclude with this. I condemn in the strongest possible terms the media for refusing to investigate them, as they did President Bush and President Clinton, and for refusing to label them for what they truly are. There is no scenario known to man, whereby a white president and his wife could ignore laws, flaunt their position, and lord over the people, as these two are permitted out of fear for their color.

As I wrote in a syndicated column titled, "Nero In The White House" - "Never in my life, inside or outside of politics, have I witnessed such dishonesty in a political leader. He is the most mendacious political figure I have ever witnessed. Even by the low standards of his presidential predecessors, his narcissistic, contumacious arrogance is unequalled. Using Obama as the bar, Nero would have to be elevated to sainthood...

Many in America wanted to be proud when the first person of color was elected president, but instead, they have been witness to a congenital liar, a woman who has been ashamed of America her entire life, failed policies, intimidation, and a commonality hitherto not witnessed in political leaders. He and his wife view their life at our expense as an entitlement - while America's people go homeless, hungry and unemployed."

When one observes President Obama’s unwillingness to accommodate America’s four-century long religious conscience protection through his attempts to require Catholics to go against their own doctrines and beliefs, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Catholic. But that characterization would not be correct. Although he has recently singled out Catholics, he has equally targeted traditional Protestant beliefs over the past four years. So since he has attacked Catholics and Protestants, one is tempted to say that he is anti-Christian. But that, too, would be inaccurate. He has been equally disrespectful in his appalling treatment of religious Jews in general and Israel in particular. So perhaps the most accurate description of his antipathy toward Catholics, Protestants, religious Jews, and the Jewish nation would be to characterize him as anti-Biblical. And then when his hostility toward Biblical people of faith is contrasted with his preferential treatment of Muslims and Muslim nations, it further strengthens the accuracy of the anti-Biblical descriptor. Dear Mr. Romney,

I serve my country and have done so for a decade – the thought of another four years of our current direction saddens me. If you do not win, I and many others may find ourselves unemployed as massive cutbacks begin to take hold. It is frightening to picture our warriors standing hopelessly in unemployment lines; this is a fate they do not deserve. There is a paradigm shift occurring, and it is doing so at an astounding pace. We are becoming a nation that does not honor its protectors. We have begun to take from them and to take them for granted... This is a result of the chasm that has widened over the last few decades... A chasm of indecency and selfishness.

Please allow me to explain. Our policies have begun to shift towards victimization; we laud the individual that has always taken and never given. We empower dependency and encourage its advocate. We force those who have already given so much to give more. How long will our nation sit by as its heritage of strength and fortitude is laid to waste? I am saddened as I ponder all those who have made the greatest of all sacrifices... Have their souls been laid to rest in vain?

I am hopeful that someday I can call a man such as yourself my Commander in Chief. But, for now I serve in the Middle East. I and many like me stand watch over our nation. We wear her flag and protect her honor. We are her keepers. We sit silently as crowds gather on Wall Street to profane her name and exercise their right to free speech. We have always protected even those that do not appreciate the awesome price of their freedom.

This may never make it to Mr. Romney... But know this sir; the service members that have sacrificed so much these past 11 years are tired. We cannot afford to sacrifice more; we cannot stand in unemployment lines as policies destroy what we've shed blood to build. Many in the Armed Forces are pulling for you... We need you to win; we need you to pull our country from the brink. Please work hard for those that have always given for our nation. Our brothers’ bodies have left their imprints on the battlefield, their blood has stained the soil of foreign nations, and tears wet the cheeks of those they leave behind. The price is great, it demands the blood of the brave and bold, and it calls for the lives of those filled with courage. Yes... It is a terrible price, but our flag must always fly. Our nation is a lighthouse for all who seek freedom; it guides them as they navigate the rocky shoals of liberty. I implore you sir – remember the sacrifice, remember the price and win.

Christian Companies Can't Bow to Sinful Mandate

When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn't much bigger than most people's living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God's word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation's largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family. 
We're Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I've always said that the first two goals of our business are (1) to run our business in harmony with God's laws, and (2) to focus on people more than money. And that's what we've tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week's biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God's grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We've not only added jobs in a weak economy, we've raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage. 
But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government healthcare mandate says that our family business must provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don't pay for drugs that might cause abortions. Which means that we don't cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the Biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million per day in government fines.
Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that's raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It's not right.
I know people will say we ought to follow the rules; that it's the same for everybody. But that's not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won't exempt them for reasons of religious belief. So, Hobby Lobby — and my family — are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don't like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit. 
My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that's a choice no American — and no American business — should have to make.

We Catholics in New York enjoy the ?high holy days? of our Jewish neighbors, and are inspired by the seriousness and sincerity with which they approach their feasts. Join me in wishing them God?s blessings on their special days!
They began their observance last week with Roshashana, the Jewish New Year, and will conclude evening and tomorrow with Yom Kippur, the great Day of Atonement.
The message of their celebrations, if I understand it correctly, is one of spiritual renewal, fresh starts, and repentance. Our Jewish friends pray, fast, reflect, resolve, ask God to forgive their sins as they repent, and start anew with festive meals and gatherings with family and friends!
Not bad at all!

 They are only being faithful to their Scriptures. God so often coaxed His Chosen People, ?Come back to me with all your heart!? How is that done? God tells us: ?A humble, contrite heart I will not spurn.?

There it is again: repentance!
God the Son learned from his Father, because Jesus made repentance the core of His invitation to His followers.

What?s that mean? Simply put, it means turning away from sin and turning to the Person, message, salvation, and call to discipleship of Jesus.
We Catholics used to be constantly aware of this repentance!

Reminisce with me . . .
. . . An examination of conscience and act of contrition prior to falling asleep at night;

 . . . frequent confession;

. . . Friday abstinence from meat as an act of penance for our sins, in union with our Lord?s death on that Friday called ?good.?;

. . . ?Ember Days? ? - remember! ? - at the change of each season, with fasting and the invitation to the Sacrament of Reconciliation;

. . . Fasting on the vigil of holy days, so we could feast all the better on the day itself;

. . . Never receiving the Eucharist if conscious of grave sin, without first approaching the Sacrament of Penance;

. . . First Friday union with the Sacred Heart of Jesus through confession and Mass;

. . . First Saturday Mass and rosary in response to our Lady?s call at Fatima to conversion of heart and repentance;

  . . Fasting from food at least three hours before Holy Communion;

 . . . And, of course, the season of Lent, intended as a forty-day Yom Kippur.

 Am I on the wrong track in thinking that most of this is now gone?

Now, I admit, customs, traditions, practices change. Often it?s good when they do.

 What can?t change is the call to repentance and conversion of heart at the very core of the Jewish-Christian Scriptures, and of our traditions. The how we respond might change; that we do penance cannot change.

Our Jewish friends have not forgotten about repentance and conversion of heart, as is so obvious in New York these ?high holy days.?

Have we Catholics forgotten it?

WASHINGTON — In mid-September 2008, Lehman Brothers collapsed and the bottom fell out of the financial system. Barack Obama handled it coolly. John McCain did not. Obama won the presidency. (Given the country’s condition, he would have won anyway. But this sealed it.)
Four years later, mid-September 2012, the U.S. mission in Benghazi went up in flames, as did Obama’s entire Middle East policy of apology and accommodation. Obama once again played it cool, effectively ignoring the attack and the region-wide American humiliation. “Bumps in the road,” he said. Nodding tamely were the mainstream media, who would have rained a week of vitriol on Mitt Romney had he so casually dismissed the murder of a U.S. ambassador, the raising of the black Salafist flag over four U.S. embassies and the epidemic of virulent anti-American demonstrations from Tunisia to Sri Lanka (!) to Indonesia.
Obama seems not even to understand what happened. He responded with a groveling address to the U.N. General Assembly that contained no less than six denunciations of a crackpot video, while offering cringe-worthy platitudes about the need for governments to live up to the ideals of the U.N.
The U.N. being an institution of surpassing cynicism and mendacity, the speech was so naive it would have made a fine middle-school commencement address. Instead, it was a plaintive plea by the world’s alleged superpower to be treated nicely by a roomful of the most corrupt, repressive, tin-pot regimes on earth.
Yet Romney totally fumbled away the opportunity. Here was a chance to make the straightforward case about where Obama’s feckless approach to the region’s tyrants has brought us, connecting the dots of the disparate attacks as a natural response of the more virulent Islamist elements to a once-hegemonic power in retreat. Instead, Romney did two things:
He issued a two-sentence critique of the initial statement issued by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo on the day the mob attacked. The critique was not only correct but vindicated when the State Department disavowed the embassy statement. However, because the critique was not framed within a larger argument about the misdirection of U.S. Middle East policy, it could be — and was — characterized as a partisan attack on the nation’s leader at a moment of national crisis.
Two weeks later at the Clinton Global Initiative, Romney did make a foreign-policy address. Here was his opportunity. What did he highlight? Reforming foreign aid.
Yes, reforming foreign aid! A worthy topic for a chin-pulling joint luncheon of the League of Women Voters and the Council on Foreign Relations. But as the core of a challenger’s major foreign-policy address amid a Lehman-like collapse of the Obama Doctrine?
It makes you think how far ahead Romney would be if he were actually running a campaign. His unwillingness to go big, to go for the larger argument, is simply astonishing.
For six months, he’s been matching Obama small ball for small ball. A hit-and-run critique here, a slogan-of-the-week there. His only momentum came when he chose Paul Ryan and seemed ready to engage on the big stuff: Medicare, entitlements, tax reform, national solvency, a restructured welfare state. Yet he has since retreated to the small and safe.
When you’re behind, however, safe is fatal. Even his counterpunching has gone miniature. Obama has successfully painted Romney as an out of touch, unfeeling plutocrat whose only interest is to cut taxes for the rich. Romney has complained in interviews that it’s not true. He has proposed cutting tax (BEG ITAL)rates(END ITAL), while pledging that the (BEG ITAL)share(END ITAL) of the tax burden paid by the rich remains unchanged (by “broadening the base” as in the wildly successful, revenue-neutral Reagan-O’Neill tax reform of 1986).
But how many people know this? Where is the speech that hammers home precisely that point, advocates a reformed tax code that accelerates growth without letting the rich off the hook, and gives lie to the Obama demagoguery about dismantling the social safety net in order to enrich the rich?
Romney has accumulated tons of cash for 30-second ads. But unless they’re placed on the scaffolding of serious speeches making the larger argument, they will be treated as nothing more than tit for tat.
Make the case. Go large. About a foreign policy in ruins. About an archaic, 20th-century welfare state model that guarantees 21st-century insolvency. And about an alternate vision of an unapologetically assertive America abroad unafraid of fundamental structural change at home.
It might just work. And it’s not too late.

Open Letter to Priests by Young Catholics





Dear Fathers,

We are writing this letter to you today because we have some things we want to say to you. Some things are easier to say than others, but here you go.

Before that, though, a HUGE thank you. Thank you for having the courage to say yes to your counter-cultural vocation. We are forever grateful and will never be able to repay you. We’re also grateful for your energy and enthusiasm you have for us as young Catholics. There are few people that value us for who we are and encourage us toward greatness and holiness as you do.

But as you are well aware, times are tough for our generation of Catholics in America. Numbers of weekly Mass attenders are small these days. Some studies show that only 10% of young adults in their twenties are attending Mass regularly. This is very concerning, to say the least.

With that, here are some things we want to share with you. You may know this already as some of you are from our generation. But we want to share anyway, just in case you don’t know.

First, we love orthodoxy. We’re hungry for the truth. We’re hungry for sane logic, common sense, and Jesus Christ.

A huge number of us love the traditions of the Church that our parents and Grandparents didn’t like so much. You know why? Because practices that are distinctly Catholic help us stand out in a world that is obsessed with mediocrity, fitting in, and being “normal.”

The practices that make us distinctly Catholic – like frequent confession, adoration, the Rosary, and even the regular use of incense at Mass – in a mysterious way, these things help build up our identity as Catholics in the world.

While you may think there’s too much of it, we think there is far too little.

Second, prayer is tough for us. The world we grew up in is a world unlike anything you can ever imagine. We don’t remember a time without the Internet in our homes. Our attention spans are embarassingly short, and silence is almost non-existent in our day-to-day lives.

We never learned how to just sit and ‘waste time’ with God.

Pray with us. Offer more times for adoration. Teach us the prayers of the Church, like the liturgy of the hours, adoration, and the countless novenas. We are thirsty for this stuff, and truly desire to make our parishes houses of prayer.

Third, we need help dealing with porn, sex, and relationships. The culture of death is here, and although we know Christ is triumphant in the end, it’s winning in a lot of our lives right now. We need help, and we need it fast.

More then confession, we need more resources and support to combat the slavery of porn. Let’s be honest here: a majority of guys in our generation are hooked on it.

It’s not enough to tell us in confession that we need to pray more, use more blockers, or do something nice for somebody else as a penance. Those are great, but the problem is still getting worse.

What we need are people in our lives who will help us fight it. It’s embarrassing to ask for help, or to talk about this outside of the confessional, so please start organizing programs, groups, and mobilizing men and women who are steadfast to engage our generation for mentorship and spiritual direction. If you don’t, who will?

Fourth, don’t be afraid to teach and preach NFP. The Church’s teaching about sex and sexuality is good news. A recent study showed that a majority of Catholic women still don’t agree with the Church about certain aspects of the teaching on articifical contraception. However, those same women are open to hearing why the church teaches what she does.

We’re used to hearing about sex, but from all the wrong sources. The Church’s wisdom is saving grace, and we want more of it.

Fifth, preach more about Jesus, and that he is alive. So many of us went to Catholic schools, but so few of us realize that Jesus is actually, really alive.

This is concerning, because this is why we are Christians.

This basic fact about our faith is not known. Given the fact that most Catholics learn about God from the ten minute homily, which often leave more to be desired in terms of content, we can see why.

Lastly, we need more opportunities for the sacraments in general. It’s difficult for anybody of any generation to make the 3:30pm confession time on Saturday afternoon, especially for those of us who have two jobs and a young family to take care of. Appointments are great, too, but having at least one more opportunity once in a while would be ideal.

We know, you’re busy too. But if the sacraments actually are what we say they are, then they need to be more widely available. The world is quenching us, and we’re thirsty for the Fountain of Life.

This August, I went back to school to learn how better to teach, only partly because the smell of fresh notebooks and sharply pointed pencils fills me with satisfaction.
In my child development class, we learned that children’s brains are incapable of empathizing directly with someone else’s perspective until they reach eight-years-old. They can’t imagine what things must be like in someone else’s mind without injecting all of their own emotions.
It was at this point during the class lecture that I realized I am seven and a half years old.
My beau and I visit a Catholic Church-funded retirement home every month to celebrate the birthday men and women (boys and girls) in that community. Each month the group from our church brings cake, soda, gifts for the month’s birthday folks, and smiling conversation as we spend a little time with people who have little money and little entertainment beyond the confines of the home.
I love spending time with the people I meet there, but I didn’t noticed my lack of perspective until last month’s “birthday party.”
My beau adopted a grandmother, we’ll call her Pearl, who grew out of her sour face mood she held a few years ago and into a sarcastic, yet bubbly demeanor. Ask anyone but my beau and they will tell you it’s because of his attention to her and pushing compassion for her to turn her frown upside down. When I started visiting for these parties with him, I co-adopted her and we’re now a happy group as long as the Parkinson’s and arthritis remains at bay for the day.
At last month’s party, I spent much of the time with another woman who will soon celebrate her ninety-sixth birthday and whom I will call Mrs. Jefferson. We discussed how much my city has changed (note: she was starting her eighth decade when I was born, so she had a lot to contribute to this conversation) and other features about life, laughter, and love.
They ate cake, the party wrapped up, and everyone started going back to their rooms. We walked Mrs. Jefferson and Pearl to their rooms, dropping off Mrs. Jefferson, whose speech is muffled by her lack of dentures. We later realized she was asking us to see something in her room, but because we couldn’t understand, we rolled her into her bedroom and went back on our journey to Pearl’s room. More on this later.
Back in Pearl’s room, we were chatting about the faded photos on her walls, including a black and white portrait of her and her husband, a man who passed away nearly 25 years ago. My beau voiced a question I’ve often wondered, but never asked of these experienced, older friends of mine.
“Pearl, would you mind if I ask you: Do you think about your husband often? Do you still miss him?” he asked.
It’s a fair question. It’s hard to imagine, in this time in our young lives when we’re thinking about weddings, ordinations, holy orders, and neglecting the time beyond a certain time frame. I think about raising children and how best to keep track of them when we visit the state fair, not what it will be like when they provide me with grandchildren. I definitely do not want to think about what life would be like 60 years down the road, when I might be husbandless and mourning.
So my defense is to believe they “get over it,” eventually and move on.
“Of course, yes, of course,” she answered with a choke. “Everyday.”
Later that afternoon, we were walking back to the car and saw Mrs. Jefferson wheeling herself back toward her room, head down with something lying on her lap. We called out to her and excitement spread across her face as she held up the framed photo she was carrying.
It was a hand-tinted photo of a young, sturdy black man standing next to a solid, tall black woman in front of a simple Victorian-style home. They weren’t smiling, presumably because the photo was taken when Mrs. Jefferson was twenty-two years old (i.e. 1938) and it wasn’t a high-quality camera, but they were proud.
Mrs. Jefferson said she and her husband were photographed there a week after their wedding day and that they were still getting used to each other. Mr. Jefferson died more than forty years ago.
“He was a sweet man,” Mrs. Jackson poked at the glass. “That was a sweet man, I tell you.” Mrs. Jackson also choked a bit. She repeated herself again.
When my heart didn’t break last month upon listening to my two wise friends, I realized how little perspective on life I really have, so it wrinkled. It wrinkled into submission to the knowledge that I, much like my five-year-old companions, have an unrefined perspective on how long “eros” love lasts between two people.
Without thinking, I was operating under the assumption that eighty-five-year-olds and ninety-six-year-olds who buried their husbands decades ago no longer felt sadness or loneliness without them. Wouldn’t it be a shame if my old perspective was right?
For now I’ll tie my eros to God’s agape and continue to build philos with my wrinkled heart. Someday, if God’s will is to lead me to a life similar to Pearl’s and Mrs. Jefferson’s, I will excitedly rummage for the photo of me and my husband.
 
 

A Great Future Behind Us






I posted this at Instapundit, where I’ve been sitting in recently, but I think it’s worth sharing here as well. Earlier this week there I linked to a series of Seagram’s ads that ran right around the conclusion of World War II and were titled, perhaps portentously for a series of ads merely hawking blended Canadian whiskey, “The Men Who Planned Beyond Tomorrow.”

But as I wrote in my Insta-post, sadly, the tomorrow those ads promised us is now in the past, as Bill Whittle further explores in a heartbreaking, yet must-watch video, which begins with the final victory lap of the Space Shuttle, followed by a beaming Wernher von Braun standing next to the first stage of the Saturn V, his mightiest invention.

“Oh, that? Just some stuff I built,” as the meme making the rounds goes. Bill then mentions Boeing’s enormous late 1960s SST design, which would have dwarfed the Concorde (which also isn’t available for passenger service these days). When the Boeing project was cancelled in the early 1970s, Whittle says in the video:

I remember my dad telling me, “Once you stop going forward, you start going backwards.” I was ten or 11, but this made me worry, because it made my dad worry. But that was it though, wasn’t it? We walked on the Moon, we lost our way home the day after.

In 2010, British academic Bruce Charlton posited, “I suspect that human capability reached its peak or plateau around 1965-75 – at the time of the Apollo moon landings – and has been declining ever since:”

This may sound bizarre or just plain false, but the argument is simple. That landing of men on the moon and bringing them back alive was the supreme achievement of human capability, the most difficult problem ever solved by humans. 40 years ago we could do it – repeatedly – but since then we have not been to the moon, and I suggest the real reason we have not been to the moon since 1972 is that we cannot any longer do it. Humans have lost the capability.

Of course, the standard line is that humans stopped going to the moon only because we no longer wanted to go to the moon, or could not afford to, or something…– but I am suggesting that all this is BS, merely excuses for not doing something which we cannot do.

It is as if an eighty year old ex-professional-cyclist was to claim that the reason he had stopped competing in the Tour de France was that he had now had found better ways to spend his time and money. It may be true; but does not disguise the fact that an 80 year old could not compete in international cycling races even if he wanted to.

Is he right? Well, as Whittle notes, compared with the aerospace engineering of the 1960s, these days, we should all be worried that we’re going backwards – or at the very least just technologically spinning our wheels.



The Romney Local Rumbles On






Will the "Etch A Sketch" stumble be a major roadblock to securing the nomination?


I grew up in New York City, and regularly traveled by subway. The various train lines had express service (e.g., from 59th Street to 125th Street in Manhattan) as well as locals, which made every stop. After Mitt Romney’s decisive victory in the Illinois primary on Tuesday, winning another big collection of delegates, the Romney campaign may have believed it was now on the fast track, the express train to the nomination.

Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor and a favorite of those who had been pining for a deadlocked Republican convention and a new entrant to the race, endorsed Romney on Wednesday. Rush Limbaugh seemed pleased with Romney’s more vocal conservative messaging in his victory speech Tuesday night, and seemed to be signaling that he was at peace with Romney’s nomination, arguing that the conservative alternative to Romney may in fact be Romney (whatever that means).

And then came “Etch A Sketch” — an offhand comment by Romney campaign advisor Eric Fehrnstrom that appeared to suggest that Romney was ready to start anew for the fall campaign against Barack Obama with a different message (a fresh slate on an Etch a Sketch). Without having said as much, the instant analysis of the comment was that Fehrnstrom was in effect admitting that any perceived Romney pivot to the right to win the nomination would be reversed with a move to the center for the fall campaign. Both Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum seized on the stumble and immediately had Etch a Sketch kits distributed by their campaigns to reporters at campaign stops.



I am not sure why it would be shocking news that candidates who win contested races for the nomination, mainly among a political party’s most committed activist voters, might try to broaden a campaign message for a fall campaign to win over those who are not partisan to one party or another, and who might have a somewhat different agenda of issues than the party’s base. The fact of the matter is that virtually every national campaign is an attempt by the nominee to expand out from the base of the party which nominated that candidate to get to the 50% or more needed to win.

The problem for Romney is that he has been battling an image as a moderate (an inauthentic conservative) and a flip-flopper in both this campaign and his first race for the GOP nomination in 2008. So Fehrnstrom’s error may have been to say publicly what everyone expected anyway (since moving to the center for the fall campaign is politically smart) in an impolitic manner suggesting cynicism by the Romney campaign and disregard for the conservative voters he has struggled to attract in the primaries so far.

Romney wants the fall campaign to be about the economy: gas prices, energy policy, federal spending, growing annual deficits and the accumulated federal debt, ObamaCare, and tax and regulatory policy. He will not run a campaign on social issues, which are of paramount importance to a significant part of the GOP base. Evangelical Christians and other social conservatives are also very concerned about economic issues, and Romney is counting on their votes in November since his approach is far more attractive to this group than Obama’s.

As Rick Santorum has emerged as Romney’s chief rival, reporters, particularly those who are not sympathetic to any Republican (probably over 90% of the national press corps), have seen an opportunity to inject social issues into the campaign. The controversy over Obama’s contraception initiative that seemed to infringe on the rights of religious organizations appeared to have died down for a bit after an attempted compromise was offered by HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. But it then erupted and became the main news story for several days after Rush Limbaugh trashed Sandra Fluke, the woman who had testified at a House hearing. Of course, Santorum himself has aided and abetted these social issue controversies by bringing up some of these issues on his own, such as the need to enforce pornography laws, or saying that John F. Kennedy’s statement during the 1960 campaign in Houston on the role of religion in public life made him want to throw up.

The economy is in shambles, war is about to break out in the oil-rich Middle East, our “commander in chief,” Barack Hussein Obama, is AWOL and instead appears mainly on television shows like “The View” – rather than honestly addressing the recent attack that killed an ambassador and three other Americans in Libya, or meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other world leaders at the United Nations’ General Assembly this last week over Iran’s nuclear threats. And through it all, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and his party continue to sink like a rock in the political polls.

We could belabor the reasons for this crash and burn, but it would take up an entire tome well beyond the word limit of this column – so just stick a fork into Romney and his hapless and disingenuous band of Republican phonies; they are cooked not just with regard to the November elections, but perhaps for all time. If they cannot politically defeat the “mullah in chief” and his incompetent and corrupt socialist, Jew-, Christian- and white-hating comrades (even classless leftist singer Madonna proudly acknowledged this week that Obama is a “black Muslim”), then what is left of the Grand Old Party? Zip!

We the People faced a similar and far less grave situation in the years leading up to the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the ensuing Revolutionary War. The words of our Founding Fathers in this beautifully crafted Declaration ring even truer today and bring tears to any patriot who loves our nation and wants it to survive.

“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and Nature’s God entitle them …

“Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, – That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. Last week my column was entitled “Our lying presidents.” The long litany of abuse and dishonesty I wrote about barely scratches the surface of the ills of our governing elite. Capped off by our current so-called president – Obama is not eligible to be president as he is not a natural born citizen – the leaders of the nation have furthered tyranny far worse for the last 50 years (with the brief exception of the Reagan presidency) than anything King George III perpetrated and imposed on the colonies. And at least in colonial times, our economy was booming, the young and soon-to-be-birthed nation had looked to the Judeo-Christian God for wisdom and divine grace, and our leaders were willing to risk their honor, sacred fortunes and lives for freedom.

Mitt Romney and his band of Republicans have and will risk little to nothing to confront the usurper and his tyranny over the American people and Jews and Christians worldwide. They do nothing, articulate no real vision, speak out of both sides of their mouths and mostly dedicate themselves to enrichment at the government trough. That is why in the face of the tyrant Obama and his corrupt Democratic Party, Romney and the Republicans can get no real traction and are destined to lose the November election.

So what do we do then? We do what our Founding Fathers did. First, we rise up legally and exercise our God-given rights to freedom and democracy and use whatever legal means we can to take control of our destiny.

On Oct. 31, 2012, I will be in Ocala, Fla., presenting evidence to a citizens grand jury, chosen in the ordinary course without regard to politics and biases, seeking the indictment of the likes of President Barack Hussein Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and others who have betrayed and terrorized the nation and violated the rule of criminal law. With regard to Obama, not only has he defrauded the American people by being elected president despite his not being a natural born citizen, but he also has compromised, in treasonous fashion, our national security. Once indicted, we will then seek to try him for these crimes. If he refuses to appear at trial, which he surely will, the people will try him in abstentia.

In effect, along with a coterie of other patriots, we will make Ocala in 2012 what Philadelphia was to the colonies in 1776. Love Like the Movies






Why do we love movie romances so much, and why do we desire for the love stories in movies to happen to us? Really, why do all of us want to be in love like the movies?
“But in the movies they’re not in love at all…”
We can never be in love like the movies, (I apologize if this is insultingly obvious) because movies, even the most realistic, can never come close to real life. They may sometimes seem realistic but “real life is more than just two hours long” as the Avett brothers politely put it.
But why are we so attracted to the love-lives of the silver screen? I think the answer lies somewhere in the fact that several qualities of a good romance do in fact reflect deeply natural human desires. These qualities I believe are the extraordinary, the conflict, the resolution, and the perfect. And these qualities paradoxically make me certain that we can’t be in love exactly like the movies, but we can be in a love-romance better than the movies. Don’t believe me?

Sadly, too many Americans don’t know what communism is, or they foolishly think that it died with the fall of the Soviet Union. Nothing could be further from the truth. Communism is alive and well, but it isn’t just in Russia or China anymore.
The 2012 election is not a referendum on Mitt Romney or Barack Obama. It is a referendum on American society. It is a contest between two opposite American Dreams and the outcome will tell us nothing about Romney and Obama, but everything about the American people.
It is a test of ALL Americans, those who vote and those who don’t bother, and those who think they can afford to play 3rd party games on the sidelines, even in the most important election in U.S. history.
Unfortunately, before we can answer the subject question, I will have to teach the definition of communism first. Baby-boomers were never taught not to destroy their own country by overloading productive members of society with the high cost of free-stuff for folks like the common Obama su.... But they won’t be able to claim ignorance after reading this column.
“A theory or system of social organization based on the holding of all property in common, actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state; A system of social organization in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state - dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party.” – That’s the definition of communism according to Dictionary.com
Let’s break that down a moment…
a system of social organization – as-in, social engineering via community organizing for benefit of social justice.
based on the holding of all property in common – as-in, you didn’t build that business, farm that land, earn that paycheck or save that money, etc. – nationalizing all primary productive industries.
actual ownership being ascribed to the community as a whole or to the state – as-in, our new 60% stake in General Motors, AGI, numerous banks, gas, oil, medical and insurance companies via so-called federal bailouts.
in which all economic and social activity is controlled by a totalitarian state – as-in, Obama and his many unelected and unaccountable Czars currently dictating business practices, profit margins and pay scales.
dominated by a single and self-perpetuating political party – as-in, today’s Democrat Party, operating a dictatorship, bypassing the other two branches of “equal government” through the longest list of “executive orders” in U.S. history, self-perpetuated by the flow of massive funds from Democrat Party to labor unions to government employees, entertainers, sports figures, journalists and welfare recipients – back to labor unions who in turn fund the Democrat Party, or support is directly in the election booth. Government employees topping the list of Obama campaign donors, is as self-perpetuating as it can get.
So, now that I have covered the definition of communism for baby-boomers who thought Senator McCarthy was crazy, and tied communism directly to Democrat and Obama & Co., America’s first Communist Administration, let’s answer my original question.
When did communism replace freedom and liberty as the new American Dream?
The answer is – it was a slow incremental process -- that some today call progress and it started a very long time ago, while nobody was paying any attention.
Lawyers and judges started trying to dismantle the U.S. Constitution before the ink was dry. So, freedom and liberty have been under assault from the very beginning in America, as a subtle corps of sappers and miners constantly worked underground to undermine our Constitution from a co-ordinate of a general and special government to a general supreme one alone. – Not my words, Thomas Jefferson’s.
Politically, everything really started heading to hell in a hand basket under Taft and Wilson. 1913 was a really bad year… a hundred years ago by the next presidential inauguration, via unconstitutional amendments initiated by Republicans under Taft and ratified by Democrats under Wilson.
If you understand the modern face and democratic strategies of communism, then you can begin to fit the pieces of the puzzle together.
State representation ended in 1913 with the 17th Amendment, effectively ending states’ rights
Decentralized power ended in 1913 with the 16th Amendment, directly funding central power
Claims that the States lost their 10th Amendment rights in the Civil War began
Revision of history was underway in academia, the media and the entertainment industry
Intellectuals began rewriting new definitions of ancient terminology
The promotion of free-stuff eclipsed the promotion of freedom
One Nation Under God was replaced with celebrating secularism and diversity
Real justice was replaced with social justice, defined and measured by men
Unalienable rights from our Creator were replaced with limited man-made rights
You get the point…
What we see happening today didn’t begin with the election of America’s first fraudulent Muslim Marxist in 2008. The truth is, global leftists didn’t believe they could leap to this final stage until 2016 and neither did anyone else. However, the American press and courts made it possible for them to push up their closing strategy by two full election cycles, using the race card to trick Americans into electing someone they knew absolutely nothing about and still know very little about four years later.
Senator McCarthy was right. There was a very strong communist movement operating out of California via the Communist Party USA, now headquartered in New York. There is a like-minded competitor organization, the Socialist Party USA (aka Democratic Socialists of America) also operating out of New York. The two share a common dream for America and that dream is entirely un-American.
These organizations knew that they had to change strategies to advance communism in the U.S.A. – so they changed strategies. Communist Party USA member and Michigan congressman John Conyers formed the Congressional Black Caucus, used to exploit the black population via racial divisions, for the sole purpose of advancing the Communist Party agenda.
The Socialist Party USA (DSAUSA) formed the Congressional Progressive Caucus via Socialist Party USA member Bernie Sanders, congressman from Vermont. Their strategy was to work like parasites from inside the American two-party system, rather than in direct competition with it. The goal was to seize control of one or both parties from inside. They now control the DNC and have moles inside the RNC as well.
For years, both parties tried to advance political candidates under their own banners, failing miserably in every effort. Until recent years, Americans wouldn’t knowingly vote for communists or socialists and third parties have never been able to compete with the two primary parties on the national stage.
Still, these organizations tried yet again under The New Party banner in the 90s, associated with the now infamous ACORN. The New Party is the banner under which Barack Hussein Obama first sought political office in Illinois.

Minutes of a meeting on January 11, 1996, of the New Party’s Chicago chapter read as follows:
“Barack Obama, candidate for State Senate in the 13th Legislative District, gave a statement to the membership and answered questions. He signed the New Party “Candidate Contract” and requested an endorsement from the New Party. He also joined the New Party.” – Another part of Obama communist history that Obama and his media minions want to keep quiet.
Failing on the 1996 New Party ticket in Illinois, Barack Hussein Obama later switched to the Democratic Party for his second Illinois Senate campaign in 2004 and he was elected to the Illinois Senate with the endorsement of his New Party (aka communist) friends.
He was immediately rushed to the top of the Democrat Party messiah list and introduced to the nation and the world as the new future of the Democrat Party during the John Kerry DNC Convention in 2004, stealing the stage from Kerry and becoming the man who would defeat Hillary Clinton and the famous Clinton War Machine, for the 2008 DNC Presidential nod.
Nobody knew anything about Obama then. Millions of Americans bought into his promises of “hope and change” without ever stopping to ask who this person was, where he came from, how he arose from total obscurity to international fame overnight with absolutely zero accomplishments on his résumé. Nobody even bothered to ask what kinds of “change” he had in store for America. It was the most amazing political scam I had ever witnessed, and I have witnessed many political scams, here and abroad.
The American people were dead asleep at the switch. All they had to know was what the leftist press told them -- that if they didn’t vote for this person, Barack Hussein Obama, a chance to “make history,” they were “racists.” So, history was indeed made. The first communist president was elected to the people’s White House, by massive hook and crook.
Ask any American if they want to join you for a movie and they will immediately ask which movie? Ask them if they want to join you for dinner and they will ask where you plan to eat? Ask them if they are a sports fan and they will tell you that it depends upon which sport you are referring to… Ask them for a loan and they will ask how much, and when you can pay it back.

Americans are not stupid, but they are often deaf, dumb and blind. They see, hear and think, only what they want to…
But when the American people heard “change” from a person they knew nothing about, and had no reason at all to place their “hope” in, they didn’t ask any questions at all. How strange… the biggest question in their lives, with all the marbles on the table and their very existence hanging in the balance, no questions.
In 2012, we have a very different scenario, however.
After four years under a communist Obama dictatorship crippling our economy, igniting unrest all over the globe, destroying our Constitutional Republic, stampeding our freedoms and liberties into the ground along with our fundamental social fabric, Americans can now see who and what Barack Hussein Obama is… Beyond wearing a Soviet Uniform or Muslim towel to his future press conferences, there is little more he can do to prove who and what he really is.
Can Americans discern what they see and do they have the backbone to unselfishly do what must be done, all personal agendas aside?
Will Americans vote for Communism again? Will Americans fall for the same set of lies they fell for in 2008? Will Americans ignore the treachery of the last four years and place their hopes in someone they now know, isn’t who he says he is?
I’d like to believe not, but only time will tell.
People say they are not “excited about Mitt Romney.” Who cares? You are not supposed to get “excited” about politicians -- Only Chris Matthews gets a “tingle up his leg” when comrades speak. Americans aren’t supposed to like or trust any politician. Americans are not supposed to revere or fear their government – “When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty.” – Thomas Jefferson
Surely, my fellow Americans understand that they have only ONE chance to remove a communist cabal from power peacefully. That chance is November 6, 2012… Who can afford to focus on anything else?
No true Patriot will be sitting out the election at home this time. No decent American will sit on the sidelines in some futile 3rd party fantasy or protest. There is simply too much at stake.
We currently have a known enemy of our nation residing in the people’s White House. The people didn’t have the good sense to stop it in 2008. The courts didn’t have the courage to stop it or rectify the disaster after the 2008 election. Congress hasn’t had the backbone to correct the fraud and hold all accountable, even after the 2010 cycle that swept so-called Tea Party candidates into political power. Not even state governments have the honor and courage to block a known fraud from appearing on the ballot again in 2012.
That means that righting the greatest wrong ever perpetrated in American politics is left to the American people alone. They will get ONE CHANCE to end this charade, peacefully, on November 6th. If they fail to end it peacefully, they will be left with only a Second Amendment solution. There is no other solution at that point.
My opinion is that, people who lack the decency and courage to right this wrong peacefully in the election booth, also lack the decency and courage to right this wrong via any other means, especially a Second Amendment method. If they sit out the election, they will sit out the battle in the streets too.
People, who lack the decency and courage to stand up, show up and fight in the election booth, won’t have anything it takes to stand up and fight in the streets either. Trust me on this! -- Once a self-centered coward, always a self-centered coward.
