The Power of Prayer

I have been asked on occasion who or what I thought is the most powerful influence in our world today and also who I thought is our greatest enemy.  As I review the things that have happened in our world in the last few decades, I would have to say that the answer to both questions is Satan.  I know most will be shocked by this statement; however, if we look at the course our country and world have taken, it is the logical conclusion.  The wars, the immorality which includes pre-marital sex, homosexuality, the killing of our unborn, and in some places euthanasia & physician assisted suicide, are all signs that Satan is alive and well and not only living in our world, but controlling it.

We have allowed a few individuals to convince the majority of us to take God out of our public lives and our schools so as not to “offend” those who don’t wish to have a relationship with Him. It is even becoming a crime to mention God publicly in certain places and a “hate crime” to speak out against the evil we encounter on a daily basis. God fearing individuals are having their rights taken away a little bit at a time and they don’t seem to realize that we need to stand up and fight back in a spiritual way.

What can we do about this?  The good news is that we have a very powerful weapon which we often overlook in fighting this enemy; and it has been given to us by God Himself.  It is prayer!  Unless we all turn back to God and pray for His Divine Mercy, we cannot expect Him to intervene on our behalf.  And prayer is the only defense we have against the most powerful  of God’s fallen angels, Satan!
